Yes, I have a few posts that I need to catch up on. I will be posting those here in a while, but this couldn’t wait. Marvel fans, comics book geeks, lovers of superhero movies – the first teaser trailer for Joss Whedon’s (The) Avengers: Age of Ultron has leaked online, five days ahead of its official reveal during Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which airs on Tuesday nights on ABC. Using that TV series and showcasing the first teaser trailer for the film was Marvel’s original plan, but the Internet will always find a way to foil plans early. Marvel – instead of freaking out and killing every troll out there or fanboy/girl who first saw the leaked version – decided to go ahead and release the first official trailer, and in high-resolution quality too.
With no fanfare or furhter rambling from me, here’s the trailer:
Dark times head! Tony Stark’s Hulkbuster suit in action! James Spader as the voice of Ultron gives you shivers! Pure epic mayhem and awesomeness! I don’t want to spoil any more awesome stuff from the trailer, but I suggest you watch it a few (thousand) times to catch everything.
While I am beyond excited for this film, I am going to share something that might ostracize me from the geek community forever: I liked, but didn’t love, the first Avengers film. I am a Whedonite, a Joss Whedon devotee who has followed almost all of his work since Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the TV series, though the film has some campy qualities). I was beyond excited to see the first movie. When I saw it… I think my expectations were so sky-high that I overhyped myself, and I didn’t find myself loving the movie. Sure, it has some faults, but it is not a terrible movie. Part of it could be that I was tired from work when I first saw it at home (my family went to see it in theaters), or I wasn’t really in the mood to see it; subsequent viewings left me bored at first or I turned it off ’cause I couldn’t get into it. I’ll give it another shot, but I did really enjoy it. Though it may not seem that way with what I wrote, heh heh.
Also being released in the last hours or two is the first teaser poster for the film:
This is definitely a movie worth seeing in IMAX 3-D, or whatever format will make this movie a beyond-worthy movie-going experience. With new characters Vision, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver (different version from X-Men: Days of Future Past), and Ultron itself, this movie is gonna be badass. If you’ve seen the trailer as many times as me, what do you think of it?
