Today is the beginning of a new adventure for me, one that I am thrilled to be a part of. The adventure that I am referring to is having the privilege of becoming a new author on this fantabulous website!
So who am I, exactly? I am an Englishwoman with a passion for a plethora of geeky material. My name is Cassandra, though I frequently use the moniker “Ms Buffy Buff“. I am still relatively new in the blogosphere, having only started my Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel opinion blog back in May of this year, but my passion for Joss Whedon works most certainly precedes my blog! When I am not blogging, I am preparing for university, where I will be studying for a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Creative Writing. Eventually, I hope to become an English tutor and teach overseas.
As an aspiring novelist, and general lover of the English language, the number one thing that I look for in television and film is well-thought out, good writing. I like characters who I can dissect and analyse, plots that make me think, and nuances. Rewatchability is essential for me, because there is nothing that I love more than re-visiting episodes of my favourite television programmes and finding tidbits that I previously missed.
Television and film is not all that I indulge in, for I am also a big fan of classic literature, video games, and music. Franz Kafka is my literary hero, fighting games are my forte, and I am a devoted fan of Lana Del Rey. I try to attend at least one concert every year because I love the incomparable energy in the venues. Fortunately, I have been lucky enough to see all of my favourite musicians live, and even meet Lana. A world without music is not a world I would want to live in, that’s for sure!
Whedon aside, my other favourite director is David Lynch. I am a massive fan of Twin Peaks and all of the wonderful weirdness that surrounds it. I’m an Aquarius, so anything that is off-kilter is bound to be superb for me.
Currently, I am obsessed with Person of Interest and I am slowly making my way through what has become my favourite Whedon television series, Dollhouse. I am selective with what I watch, but when I do find something that really grabs me, it becomes a keeper.
What you will discover in my upcoming pieces is that I love to incorporate my own theories and metaphors. I am forever analysing characters and subtle imagery in everything that I watch. Character studies are a particular favourite of mine to write because I find nothing more fun than exploring a character’s mind.
Hopefully you will enjoy reading my pieces as much as I enjoy writing them! It is truly a delight to be here.
