AHS Title

Greetings to everyone on this second day of October! Or third day, depending on where you are in the world. Let’s all gather around and celebrate the fact that it’s October and my favorite holiday, Halloween, is at the end of this month.

While October has not been the kindest month to me over the past few years, this year I’m celebrating the whole month with new excitement and partaking in everything horror-related. Yes – you’re about to be bombarded with a horror-themed post every day until Halloween. HOORAY!

To commemorate this first Halloween-themed post, I wanted to give a shout-out to the horror anthology series American Horror Story. The latest installment of the series, AHS: Hotel, will be premiering on October 7th at 10:00/9:00 PM EST/PST on the U.S. channel FX. If you’re a fan, you’re counting down these next few days.

I loved AHS: Murder House, thought AHS: Asylum was OK, AHS: Coven was great until the second half (we don’t talk about the second half), and I skipped AHS: Freakshow ’cause I was growing tired of the series. As a completest, I’ll probably watch AHS: Freakshow here in a few days before I try watching a few episodes of AHS: Hotel – which looks only “meh” to me. The cool new addition to the cast this season is Lady Gaga, who has a significant role as one of the residents of the aforementioned ‘hotel.’

One thing that I do love about the American Horror Story series are the creeptastic intro credits, which feature surreal imagery and haunting music that gets under you skin…as it should. The Horror genre is meant to frighten/scare you, make you a bit paranoid about the creepy-crawlies that go bump in the night, and unnerve you. These opening credits are a fine example of bringing on the terror and suspense.

FX just released the opening credits to AHS: Hotel yesterday (October 1st), which inspired this post. Take a look at the opening credits from all five seasons of the series. Preferable viewing mood: late at night, in the dark, by yourself. With surround sound. And a stuffed creature to hug.
