Meet the Fangirls!

Hello everyone! My name’s Maribel (aka Sylent Mari). I’m the editor of Geeky Voyage and I welcome you to the blog.

I’m a blogger from New Mexico who spends her daylight/evening hours working at the largest community college in the state. When I’m not busy at work, I’m probably binge-watching one of my favorite series on Netflix or finding new shows and films to watch and recommend to friends. On occasion I cosplay as Silent Bob from Kevin Smith’s Askewniverse:

(w/ a friend at Albuquerque Comic Expo 2012)

In my spare time (when I do have it) I love to travel and hit local comic conventions. I try to make it to at least one a year, and 2015 looks to be the year that I’ll be hitting four – a new record. I’ve been to two major conventions over the past two years: Fan Expo Canada (2013 and 2015) and Denver Comic Con (2015). If you’re looking for two large conventions to visit in the future, ya gotta go to FEC and DCC.

I’m mostly a TV and film geek, but am passionate about every form of media. My favorite shows include: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, The X-Files, Xena, Dollhouse, Lost Girl, Orphan Black, Continuum, Haven, Dominion, Breaking Bad, and many others. My current TV show addiction is Person Of Interest – I’m doing my part in spreading the word to friends who might dig this show, which is criminally underrated. I’m open to seeing any TV show once and and even still watch a few that bug the hell out of me, but I just can’t quit them yet: The Walking Dead, The Strain, and Once Upon A Time.

I’m a horror fanatic and LOVE horror movies. I’m into any genre fare so you’ll catch me watching any science fiction or fantasy movies too, along with thrillers & suspenseful films. I’m a film nut that loves every aspect of film-making and would like to write a script or direct some homegrown feature someone.

I could go on and on about my video game likes, what are my favorite comics characters, why Dollhouse is an underrated show, but I’d rather not ramble and my fingers are gettin’ tired. And you’ll probably find an article about those topics. ;)

Follow Geeky Voyage on Facebook. I’m also on Twitter but I’m a sporadic tweeter. Oh! And Tumblr too.

Cassandra (aka Ms Buffy Buff) the newest member of the Geeky Voyage family, which consists of…well, me and her. She’s a fellow Whedonite that I met on the Interwebs (aka Facebook) and is a helluva cool gal. She’s a contributing writer for GV, so please give her a very warm welcome! I’m excited to have her on-board.

If you haven’t checked out her introduction post, give it a view: Greetings & Salutations!

You can check out her personal blog which features great articles, commentary, and interviews with fellow Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans, and it also covers other Whedonverse shows like Dollhouse and Angel. It’s a great read and I highly recommend check it out. Visit her blog at: and follow her on Facebook and Twitter.
